MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided at today's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. A first offender for drunkenness, who had been released on bail and did not answer when called, was ordered to forfeit his bail; and for a similar offence another man, who appeared in Courts was fined Ss, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. William Bryan, with one previous conviction against'him for drunkenness, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Stewart Arthur Melville, charged with being idle and disorderly, was remanded, pending a medical examination.
James Markha.ni, who was charged' with the theft of ah overcoat valued at £3 Ss> the property of Duncan and Mackintosh, and a pair of boots, valued at 21s, belonging to G. Ardrey and Co., was remanded until Wednesday.
The motor engineering class to be conducted under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. on Tuesday evenings promises to be very successful. The course will, in a brief course of lectures, provide a working knowledge of the operation of the internal combustion engine An expert instructor is giving his services voluntarily.
A special musical senvicb will be lie-Id in Wesley Church, Taranaki street, tomorrow evening, conducted by the Rev. 11. E. Bellhouse. Soloa from "'Elijah" will bo rendered, and special anthems will bn sung by lho choir.-: ,
