Tom Plant, the popular Thorndon left-hander, returns from a trip to England to-morrow. He played a good deal of cricket while away, and met with a lot of success. .
L. T. Cobcroft, Who is back in Wellington, is to play for 'V.M.C.A. this season. He will also act as coach to St. Patrick's College, Boys' Institute (boys' teams), and V.M.C.A. Over 25 years ago, Cobcroft was prominent in Sydney cricket. "Not Out," in the Sydney "Referee," writes as follows :— In his coaching in Wellington o«e hopes' 1 the old Australian will not forget to impress on the powers-that-be that an absolute essential for developing the talent of young players is first-class wickets ' for practice and for play. Cricket is like billiards, in fact, all ball games; to attain excellence it is as bad as chasing a myth to practice on faulty surfaces.
E? Bern.iv, the weil-knwon Wanganui player, who lias played in Wellington with- the Minor Assofciatians' tenm and the Nomads, is now rcsidng in Wellington, and will probably play for the WeiliDgtem .Club..
