EMPRESS THEATRE.

There commenced at, the Empress Theatre last night an excellent doublefeature bill. "Greater than Love," the wonder and beauty of a mother's love and faith, is told in a'drama of great human _ interest. Louise-Glaum, associated with Maples Hamilton, and a bevy, of charming girls/ figures as Grace, Merrill, leader of a set whose methods ot living are shady. Miss Glaum and her associates wear some ravishing, gowns. The second feature is a diverting comedy-drama, "Phil for Short," in which, Evelyn Greeley makes a delightful tomboy, masquerading to escape the unwelcome attentions of her guardian. Her love affair with a Greek professor,. who has had an unfortunate love affair and hates women, is hilariously funny in''parts. How she eventually wins over her stern husband by using a flirtatious musician as a foil, make a diverting comedy. The film showing the race befcwen Beauford and Gloaming at Sydney is full of interest, 'as is also the Gazette. Another "Blue Fox" serial, and (the Empress Orchestra; under Mr/ H. G.
