to m urn*. ;' Sir,—Kindly allow me to correct a somewhat serious mistake in the report of a ceremony at St. Gerard's, Hawker street, that you were good enough to publish in your issue (yesterday) of the 28th; The memorial to the late much esteemed: and lamented Sergeant F. W. Crombie, w^ich occupies a, prominent;position in the Church of St. Gerard, was erected about a year ago. It is a large and beautiful oil painting of " The Holy Family,'-',' with a tablet bearing the memorial inscription. The altar unveiled by His Grace Archbishop Redwood on Sunday laet has been erected by contributions received from various parts of the Dominion, and somovfrom outside the .Dominion, but chiefly from Catholics who frequent the Church of St. Gerard. It is an expression of their veneration for the Holy Mother of God, under the title of "Mother of Perpetual Succour."—-I am, etc., P, J. WHELAN, .0.8.5:8., ; , v' .'..."■. ' Rector. . 29th August. ■
