Section B—Poverty Bay (3) beat Hawk«s Bay A (2); Hawkes Bay (2) beat' Manawatu (nil). In the section A match, Feil'ding were ' hopelessly o^tclawsed by Wellington, though they put up a plucky fight against overwhelming odds. Wellington, who made their first appearance, played with splendid combination, and promise to do well in the tournament. Goals were scored by the Misses Williams (7), Thomas (3), Martin, and KittO. There was nothing brilliant in the Haw kes Bay B-Manuwatu match, which, however, was evenly contested. The, whole game was characterised' by hard hitting instead of good" combination. Misses Butler and. Fisk scored for the winners. ■ * The game of the day wns that between Poverty Bay and. Hawkea Bay A, both giving a great exhibition of hockey. The combination displayed wae excellent. The concerted work of the winners' forwards was exceptionally brilliant, and the stick work on both sides was clever. The game was fast and strenuous throughout, with not a dull moment. Poverty Bay led by 2 to 1 at half-time. The sound defence of the visitors gave them tho victory.
