Only two more rounds and m ft*W out' stinding games have to be 'contatted in the Wellington Chess Club* annual championship tourney. The leading scores are now as follow:—W. M«olu.y 7i.-£ (seven wins, and one draw),'Kelling 4i-i, A. W. Gyles 4i-si, G. P. Anderson 4-2, E. A. Hicks 4-3, and W. B. Mason 3 : 3, Mr. Mackay.the club's esteemed president, has only one more game to play; and he therefore has. an excellent chanco of winning tht^ club championsihp. His score includos a win by default due to him in the ;,xiund from .Mr. J. A. Connell, who has-withdrawn from the contest. The next two Saturdays ore set aside for tho telegraphic fixture, NeLson v. Wellington, consequently; the eighteenth round will not be contested until 16th September.

Mr. iS. Faulknor is" leading for the intermediate championship, with a score of S wins 1 loss. He is closely followed by Mr Gyles, sen.' (♦i-14), and Mr. W ; . White ..(4-2).' There is only one more, round,to be played in this tourney; The junior championship competition is divided into two sections, A and B. The former lias been won by Mr. F, Graily.
