NEW YORK BOARD OF ALDERMEN. CONDEMN PROHIBITION
The Board- of Aldermen of the City of •New York passed the following resolution on 7th I'ebruary lsst:~ ■jWhereas, public opinion, as evidenced in' newspaper reports and expressions of iViB people'in general, tends, strongly to a desire for ah' amendment of the Volstead Law, bo that there may be restored to the people the right to the "use oPthe nourishing light wines and beers :to •which they were for many years accustomed, and which they believe by right 'they sh&tild be permitted; therefore resoled— . ' ... •-' • ' ; ■ .. .■■■'•. That the Congress of the 'United States be and hereby is petitioned, in the name of the Board of Aldermen of th* City of New York, to co amend the all too-pro-hibitive Volstead Law to the iend that the manufacture and sale of alcoholic may be permitted so that the many who for years found sustenance in light wines and beer* may again injoy that right and privilege. Kesolutiona of similar import have *ecehtly been adopted by the Common Councils or other municipal boavds of Chicago, St. Louis, Baltimore, liostoit. and several other cities.
