"A band of thirty striking fishermen, emboldened by too much' moonshine whisky, ran riot with flaming torches ia the fisheries, section' of Seaside Park, just south of Tom's River, N.J., early yesterday, setting many fires that caused the destruction of the huge Bennett Wilson fishery, and for a time'threatened the entire village (says the New York World, 22nd.March, 1922). .• - A posse of deputies and citizens, under Sheriff Joseph Holman of Tom's River, armed with riot guns and autohlatics,' finally rounded up/ t>aft of the wild band at dawn after a pitched battle that lasted intermittently for hours. Heroic !work, by firemen and volunteers aided by a sudden shift in the wind saved the !vulage from destruction. . Seventeen arr.ests were made. >[ Thetbwn is still,uhdir patrol. Although quiet reigned most of the day, several1 members .of the band are still free and aye known to h^ in a sullen mood. The men are belieVed to be employees of the Robert., Hennler FishPounds.
