(AUSTRALIAN • HDW ZEALAND CABLI AUSOCIATIMIi) (Received 25tH,August, 9 a.m.) LONDON, 24th August, The rebels kidnapped and later released Mr.' Collins's brother John, who states that they are gloating over "having done in Mick Colling, the traitor." Jlr. Mnlcahy has been appointed Com-mander-in-Chief of the Irish Army. [A cablegram received yesterday and which forecasted this appointment /said: "Mr. Mulcahy is more a student than a soldier. However, he has shown himself a strong man'and he will be tremendously strengthened, in upholding the Treaty by the resentment and indignation arising from Mr. Collins's death."]
