LODGE MEETING
Pioneer Lodge. No. 11, held t,h« usual meeting in the Webb street Mission Hull. Bro. Hirst, C.T.. presided over a Itrgw attendance of officers and members. A vote of sympathy was carried in eiknos to the late Mrs. Barrett, mother of Sis. Harding, D.C. It was decided that ths Pioneer Lodge place on record its hisrh appreciation of the services rendered by Sis. . Mardori. M., during her long term in the Order. Sis. Gwen D»wson presented Sis. Mrs. Mardon with a handsome bouquet. Greetings were received from the Grand Chief Templar, Bro. Dalton, of Dunedin. After the business was finished, the lodge went into harmony. The item for the evening'was "question box." Interesting questions wore brought forward, resulting in a good deal of discussion. Anzao Lodge and Star of Wellington were asked to pay Pioneer Lodge a visit for the purpose of holding a community .sing. Several members were received by card as associate members. Bro. Purdy was installed as financial secretary by the lodge deputy, Sis. Richard*. Cleveland Lodge, No. 13, 1.0.0.F.. N.Z,; held its fortnightly meeting- in W&lrfie's Hall, Brooklyn, last Wednesday •voning. Bro. H. A. Watson, N.G., presiding. In addition to acounts, sick pay and other routine business, twe candidates were nominated: The members devoted the remainder of the evening to fraternal pursuits. The arrangements for opening a Rebekah (female) branch in Brooklyn, to be called Esther Lodge, are well in hand, and subjeot to arrival of charter from Grand Lodge office the institution ceremony, initiation of the ■ prospective initial candidates (some 40 odd), and installation of offiers for tho current term will be carried out on the evening of the 30th August. ■ ' • . • '
Zealandia Lodge; No. 48, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting last Thursday evening in St. Thomas' Hall, N«wtown, Bro. T. Glengarry. P.G., presiding. There was n large attendance of members and visitors from kindred lodges. In addition to other business conducted, one candidate was duly elected and a. further candidalo was nominated
It. is- announced that the Grand Master, Bro. C. T. Talbot, of Fairlie, arrives on Saturday morning frorr South on an official tour of visitation to t!io 1.0.0.F lodges in the North Island. He returns to Wellington on 14th September, when a full mooting of Grand Lodge executive officers wiH be hold here. The Grand Master and executive will be entertained by tVns combined lodges of Wellington District (No. 5) on the evening of the 14th Stptamter.
