WELLINGTON COLLEGES
MEETING OF THE BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Wellington College Board of Governors was held today. Mr. W. F. Ward was in the chair, and the other members present were: Sir Edward Gibbes and Messrs. W. H. P. Barber, W. H. Denton, R. Darroch, T. Forsyth, and W. H. Field. . . The statement of finances showed that there was a debit bank balance of £2923 2s 7d. The total debit on patier was £3777 16s. I It was reported that the Government had made a grant of £75 towards the games funds of the two colleges. The headmaster of Wellington College (Mr. T. R.; Cresswell) reported that the number on the roll for the month wa» 746, the average attendance being 714, and the per cent, of attendance 95.8. The question of filling the vacancies on the college staff caused by the departure of Messrs. Aitken and Thompson was left in the hands, of the chairman.
Miss M'Lean, head mistress of the Girla' College, reported that the' practical training in secondary school work of the five graduate students from the Training Collage ended last week. Three members of the Girls' College hockey team had been chosen as Wellington representatives for the New Zealand hockey tournament; while a former pupil was now captain of the Wellington hookey .team for the season. The thanks of the Girls' College were due to the donor of the Hilda Moorhouse memorial scholarship. . The subject agreed upon by Miss M'Lean and Mr. Cresswell was "The Team Spirit: What it Means to the School :and the Community."
