Mr. E. Newman, last night, in the House of. Eepresentativeß, sounded a warning against, the proptaids of several local bodies in New Zealand to raise loan moneys locally. He .stated that one electric power board proposed to raise within its own district, if possible, the huge sum of £500,000. Money was so cheap in London that 'it must bo to the advantage of the Dominion to bring fresh money from London, and so leave local funds free for investments in mortgages. The farmers ware urgently in need of money, and it would be better for the country if they were to receive the full measure of assistance they, needed.
