(AVSTBAUAN - NEW ZEALAND CiBLB ASSOCIATION.) VANCOUVER, 22nd July. The Canadian-Australian steamer Waitemata has been towed into Victoria from Anacprtes, where thirty-one of the crgw deserted, in sympathy with striking longshoremen, claiming the right to land under the United States law, which permits sailors to quit at any port. They are held for deportation, probably to Canada, the Australian and New Zealand immigration quota to the United States being full.
