PETONE AND NEWTOWN DRAW.

Playing at Emerson-street, Petone drew with Newtown, each side scoring 21 points,' after an interesting game. Newtown won the toss, and played with ■the sun behind them. From a scramble in Newtown's twenty-five, BiddeQ kicked a penalty goal for Petone. Newtown were not to be denied, and Green scored from a loose forward rush. Fisher converted. H. Nunn scored a try for Petone, and Riddell added the major points. Newtown then worked down, and Fisher broke through with the ball at his toe, and eventually scored. He took the kick himself, bnt the ball struck the cross-bar. Just before haiftime,. M'Ewen scored and Williams converted, making the score Newtown 13, Petone 7.

On resuming, Nunn scored for Petone, and Riddell was awarded a goal. Petone kept up the pressure, and a.passing rush between Kruse, H. and F. Nunn, and Stamford ended in the last-named touching down. Balk failed with the kick. Fisher soon after kicked a penalty goal. Kruse scored for Petone, and Riddell goaled from a mark. At last Newtown evened up the score, Hedges getting a try, which Fisher converted. Mr. F. Campbell was referee.

CITY BEATEN BY CENTRAL. Central defeated City at Miramar by 13 paints to 9.
