Between Berhampore and Selwyn there was a keenly contested game at Duppastreet. Berhampore were without the services of Standen. During the first spell Selwyn Were mainly kept in their own half, but occasionally engaged in advances to their opponents'/ twentyfive, and once or twice went close to scoring. Persistent aggression by Berhampore resulted in two tries, neither of which wa* converted. From a scrum near half-w&y, Haynes got the ball away to Walters, and Howard and Scott carried on, the last-named sprinting soross to score. The other try came about as the result of a fast follow-up by Mathieson, ' who picked up the ball before it went into touch and scored near the corner. Some of the Selwyn players thought that the ball had gone into touch. During the spell Scott was injured and retired, a_cT not long aiter the commencement of the second spell Beck was badly hurt and carried from the field. Selwyn made some strenuous rushes, but they were repulsed, and Berhampore again resumed a strong offensive, during which Sickling made a fine drop-kic}_ The ball f appeared to be correctly piloted, but the referee, who was in the best position to judge, had to doubt about the effort failing. Near the end of the game Selwyn were awarded a r penalty in front of Berhampore-'s goal, and M'Brearty made no mistake with the kick. The game ended: Berhampore, 6; Selwyn, 3. / Mr. T. A.
