(AUSTRALIAN ■ NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) CAIRO, 12th July. Major Blake's machine developed engine trouble between Ziza and Bagdad. Both machines landed in the middle of the desert, where repairs are being carried out.

[Major Blake, before starting on.the flight to Bagdad, reported that special precautions were being taken. He was taking rations and water for five days, and was to be accompanied by an armed machine fitted with wireless apparatus, so that in case of a forced landing he wpuld have immediate protection and would be able to summon assistance,]
