SHORTT'S THEATRE.

At Shortt's Theatre to-night there will be a double-feature programme. The first feature is "Laddie," a companion film to "D-arby and Joan." Miss Sydney Fairbrother, one of the greatest English character actresses, is seen in "Laddie," in which she impersonates a little old lady who comes up to London from her village home in order to surprise her son; a fashionable doctor. Some charming incidents in a children's. hospital are depicted in "Laddie," the hero of which is a famous doctor, and there is amusement as well as pathos in the scenes. That Ethel Clayton has ■ a particularly impressive way of portraying real life problems in a natural, human manner will be made clear by her appearance in the Paramount picture, "Her Own Money," which is also in the new programme. Her interpretation of a sweet, self-sacrificing wife is a fine piece «:of work. Warner Baxter is'■ seen as ■ the husband. Supporting items to be provided include the latest English comedy and a gazette. ,
