LONDON, Bth July,
The Australian apple season is nearing its close. High prices experience^ in 1921 were never anticipated, but better figures would have been obtained if several earlier consignments had not arrived in bad condition. These had tlie effect of making buyers fight shy of Australian apples, for saleable portions of damaged shipments were deceptive. They looked well, but were bad inside. It is only, the fact that the English strawberry season has been short and unsatisfactory, due to early summer drought, followed by over-heavy rain, that the market for later shipments of apples has held firm.
