DECLINE IN BENTS.

For various reasons, including cold weather and financial stringency, the revenue received by the City Council from the rent of street fruit stands for the .third quarter of the year will be considerably below that for the corresponding period of'last year. The sale of stands for the quarter is conducted by auction, and while most of the stands have declined in value, one or two have increased. IThe following list gives the figures for the third quarters of 1922 and 1921 respectively:— Courtenay-place Tramway Junction: ,1922, £26;. 1921, £41 ss. 1 Tory-street Corner: £13 10s; £20. ' -.
