SOUTH WELLINGTON tr. WELGASCO. South Wellington, a much improved team, inflicted defeat upon the redoubtable Welgasco. It was a hard-fought game, but Welgasco were unable to finish many movement*, wbioh> with ordinary luck, might have ended with a score. South Wellington wero strengthened by the inclusion of M'Carthy, a member of the Wiltshire orew, at inside-half, and Roberts played right-half. Both goals for South Wellington were secured by Francis, th« Bret from a corner and the second from a scramble at the goal-mouth. Welgasco failed to score. Mr. Yeomaw was ths referee. SWIFTS v. WADESTOWN. Swifts registered their second win on Saturday after a very scratchy game with Wadestown. Both teams had to fill up with emergencies. Under the circumstances, anything approaching brilliance waa not expected, and nothing brilliant was done. Stocks scored two goals for Swift*, and the final score was 2 : 0. The referee waa Mr. W. Press. PETONE v. ISLAND BAY. Played at Petone under good iootball conditions; Island Bay-kicked off against a slight northerly wind, and were soon in evidence at the; Blues' end. But Ingham cleared and put Petorie in attack. Goodall raced away and put in a great shot which the goalie could not hold and Boadle followed up and opened the scoring. This put the teams on their mettle, and a lively spell followed: After a melee in the Bay's goal-mdufch, Boadle worked his way through and ended a.neat hit of play with a second goal. Half-time' came' with Petone leading, 2,0. After 'they restart the Bay with the wind pn their backs made things hum, but faulty shooting spoiled their chances. From a corner kick by Newlyn, Boadle completed his "hat trick" with a beautiful shot. Petone now had the game in hand. Five minutes later Boadle added his fourth. Island Bay now took a hand, land for a while they done all but score. Gardiner was called upon repeatedly to clear his charge. Just before the finish Boadle scored a fifth, thus being tha only scorer of the game. Resnlt:—Petone. 5; Island Bay, 0.
