PRESENTATION OF PRIZES,
The annual presentation of prizes of the Royal Port Nicholson Yaoht Club took place on Saturday evening. Mr W. Duncan (commodore) presided, and among those present were His Excellency the Governor-General, Viscount Jellicoe, Sir John Luke* M.P., the Mayor (Mr. E. A. Wright, M.P.), and Captain J. Dawson (Harbourmaster). \ In asking Viscount Jelliooe to present the trophies, the Commodore said % that the club had had a very successful iseason. Several boats from other clubs had competed. The Governor-General's Iron Duke had1 represented Wellington in the Sanders Cup contest, and, although tfie boat was not successful at Dunedin, m club races she had proved "». very hard nut tc craok." To-day, the olub had a membership of between 140 and 150, andi was in a very sound position. A feature of the season had been the introduction of the 14 feel one-design class of boat. The members had supported the club well, and he would like to thank tho various business concerns that had taken. &n interest in I ho club's welfare.
Viscount Jellicoe presented prizes to winning members, as follow: — First-class—Marangi' (Mr. B. Clarke), Waiere 11. (Mr. E. Bucholz), Rona (Mr. J. R. M'Lean). White Heather (Mr H. J. Smith), Wanderer (Mr. F. Hadfield), Kotiri 11. (Mr. J. E. L. Cull), Viola (Mr. C Neal), Ailsa (Messrs. Jordan and Soott); Ataiauta (Mr. W. F. Hills). Second Class-Galatea (Mr. I. Tringhara), Rawene (Mr. N. Blair)/ Romp (Mr. A. J. . Ibbotson, Mrs. Henry Blundell's trophy), Wylo (Mr. •W. Duncan), lolanth'e (M*\ •G. M'Lean), Seabird (Mr. C. Twiner), Muritai (Mr. F. Kiornan). 18-fpot and Under Class—Poneke (Mr. H. Roberts), Geisha (Messrs. Rowntree and Nimmo). Coo-ec (Mr. A. Johnston), Iron Duke (Lord Jellicoe), Mahau (Mr. A. Clarke). Claire (Messrs. Clarke and Blair). Kotiri I. (Mr. T. Petherick), Mini (Mr. J. Breen). Toasts honoured during the evening- included "The Governor-General" (Mr. B. Clarke); "R.P.N.Y.C." (Mr. R. A. Wrirfit, M.P.). "Kindred Clubf)" (Mr. C. J. Ward). "Visitors, and Supporters of the Sport" (Mr. Trinpham). and "The Harbour Board" (Mr. G Bothamley). An enjoyable evening was spent in songs, recitations, and musical items.
