MISSING LAUNCH FOUND

ON SHORES OF QUEENSLAND.

Some six weeks ago the sea-going launch Raata was missed from Auckland Harbour. The launch had been fitted out.and provisioned for along coastal cruise and a man had been left in charge. It was thought at the time that the caretaker and two other men had commandeered the little vessel, and support for this view was obtained when a few days later a store at Coromandel was broken into and articles which would be of use on a sea-voyage were stolen.

When the launch was first missed the Wairuna reported having seen a little vessel answering to h_er description some distance off the coast. The New Zealand police communicated at once with all police stations in the Commonwealth and the Islands of the Pacific. The Minister of Justice (the Hon. E. P. Lee) has now received word by telegraph from the polico'of Queensland tnat the" Raata has been discovered with three men abroad at a place named Zepppon, near Eockhampton. It would seem that the vessel, having crossed the Tasman, has had a voyage which can scarcely have been other than adventurous at this season of the year.
