INVERCARGILL, 3rd July. Tho Returned Soldiers' Association recently approached the Borough Council and proposed a scheme to finance work to absorb unemployed ex-soldiers, the association providing a sum of £330, with additions if^neeessary, and tlio council subsidising the amount. The .council accepted the scheme, and adopted a programme of improvements to reserves, on which twenty ex-soldiers were sot to work to-day. If many more men offer, work will be given them on four days a week in order that the relief may be continued as; long as possible. ,
