PLAY AREA FOR CHILDREN
Anything for the children always makes a ready appeal to the generosity of the citizens, and judging by the enthusiasm displayed in connection with the effort of the Boys' Institute to raise the sum of £1000 to provide apparatus for the playing area to be established in front of the Hospital, , the^ Street Day should bo a great success. This effort, is a community one, for it is recognised'that. Wellington has been behind the other;' cities in rgard to playing grounds for children." It is recognised that "a boy without a playground is father of the man' without a job." Preparations are well in hand for the Street Day to be held on Friday, 14th July. In connection with the effort, a community sing will bo held in front of the Post Office at 12.30, and a procession of school children will march: from Veitoh and Allan's coiner, preceded by several bands. A meeting of ladies willing ao assist in the Street Day will be held on Friday -aflTron next, at 3 o'clock, in the Commit.sc Room of the Town Hall. •
