HIGHER DUTIES ON FOODS,

(Beceived July 3, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Ist July, The Senate Tariff Committee has agreed upon a tariff of thirty cents a bushel on wheat. -' Senator Underwood declared that this would increase America's food bill by a hundred million dollars a year. In nearly every case, the Committee has increased the duties on fruits over the House of Representatives' figures. The duty on jellies, jams, and marmalades is increased to .40 per cent, ad valorem from 28, per cent.; and on peaches, pears, plums, and prun.es (save ii| tho fresh state or in brine) it is increased from 20 per cent, to 40 per cent.
