COURAGE
TO STAND FOR PEACE
DR. GIBB DEFINES HIS POSITION
w Zealand forests, the destruction of deer on a large scale will be taken in hand by t
by the councils of some of the great British churches—that a conference of Christians, sent as ambassadors of their churches from every land, should meet face to face for a consideration of tlie world's problems. "I verily believe," said Dr. Jowett, "that the vital fellowship of the enthusiastic Christians of Europe and America could change the face of the world." He has appealed to the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, and the leaders of the Free Churches of Britain to summon to their conference the Christian leaders of the. world. The Church is .awaking. ,The Church will stand 'foi' peace. The Church believed and echoed the cry so often during the war: "Help us put clown German militarism and there will be an end of militarism everywhere." We know how that promise has been fulfilled1! We shall not make another mistake.
What was the conclusion of the whole matter ? Just this : Courage, in the service of the Lord Jesus Christ. Courage, "that lovely virtue," as Sir James Barrie termed it in his memorable recent address to the students of St. Andrew's University, and never so lovely as when it is dedicated to the service of the "King of Righteousness, who is also King of Salem, which is Sing of Peace."
