ANTARCTIC DEPRESSION
MORE BAD WEATHER.
The storm area which prevailed off the East Coast during the latter part of the week hue now given place to one'from the west, whiohia sometimes called the "Antarctic Depression." Strong- westerly winds predominate, and are likely to inoreaseto gale*. One westerly gale appeared on the report at 9 a.m. this inornine. Rain is very prevalent, particularly on the west coa»t of the N»rth Island, and the skies are .dull to overcast generally. There wore 9 points of rain registered' at Wellington overnight, but there was no frost. Frosts were reoorded on the east coast of th». South Island. Over an inoh of rain fell at Greymouth. Winds are likely' to change to the southward after about 16' hoars,; and tho barometer is due to rise. Rivers will probably bo high on the. West Coast and in southern districts. ' ' ';"
