THE GUARDIAN ANGEL.

A small girl was travelling with her parents in a sleeping car, but had a great objection to being put in an upper berth. Howevei, after being assured that papa, mamma, and her guardian angel would watch over her all the time, she' was prevailed upon to settle down. When all was quiet for the night, a small voice piped, "Mamma!" "Yes/ dear?" "You • there?" "Yes, I'm, here; be a good girl, and go to sleep." Quietness reigned for some time,. and i then the questions. were repeated,, till, at last a fellow passenger lost patience, and shouted, "Yes, confound -you, we're all here—your father and mother, and brothers and sisters, and uncles and aunts." After this there was a brief pause. Then the tiny voice piped again,' "Mamma!" "Well?"- "Was that my guardian angel?"
