EMPRESS THEATRE.
Another three-feature programme is showing at'the Empress Theatre, and the pictures are of such merit that a particularly successful week -. seems assured. Seena Owen and Matt Moore appear in '.'Back Pay." Constance Binney is'the star of "Something Different," and there is an excellent Sennett comedy, "Gingham Girls," besides the Gaumont Graphic, and a travelogue, "The Chateau Thierry War Zone." The title of the first-mentioned picture is based oh a remark made by a-girl who sees the diversions of the city: "If the wages of sin is death, I have a lot of back pay coming to me." She enjoys life to the full, and is touched onty when her country lover, whom she had despised, comes back from the war blinded. Her regeneration is depicted with scenes which make a powerful appeal. "Something Different" depicts the adventures of a young lady who gets mixed up in a revolution in South America and is given considerably mor« excitement than she bargained for. The scenes are most realistic, and the picture is ably directed. Splendid music is played by the Empress Orchestra.
