ANTECEDENT LIABILITIES.

The question of local bodies' antecedent liabilities was raised in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr. Clutha Mackenzie (Auckland East). He desired to know if ' the, Government would consider the desirableness, in* the near future, of raising a loan to enable local bodies' to pay off such liabilities. The Prime Minister replied that he regretted the Government could not undertake the responsibility asked. As a matter of fact, there were so many urgent purposes for which money was required that it was quite impossible, under existing circumstances, to aijld to the number. ~ ■'■■-.
