LICENSING BOOKMAKERS.

Mr. G. Witty (Riccarton) drew the attention of the Prime Minister' yesterday to the large number of petitions asking for an amendment of the Gaming Act. He said there were very many thousands of signatures to the petitions —over 80,000. Would a Special Committee, he asked,, be set up to consider the matter? In reply, Mr. Massey said the matter would receive the consideration of Cabinet.
