BOXING
The committee of the Boxing Association mat last evening, when it was reported that Gleeson had intimated that on account of slight indieposition, hi 6 medical adviser had refused to allow him to continue training-, and he would thus be unable to meet _ Derosky on the 11th July. The chairman,., reported that the matter of a substitute had been considered, and as most of the preliminary arrangements had been made and many patrons were anxious to see Demsky. it was 'decided that Billy Preston take Gleeson's place. Members stated that Preston was in excellent fettle, and was clever enough to fully extend the visitor;. A statement of receipts and expenditure at the recent series of contests between H.M.S. Chatham and Wellington was presented, showing a balance of over £40. and it wae decided that one half of this amount bo handed each to the Chatham Sports, Fund and the Returned Soldiers' Association. ■ - .. -...,-..
