LONDON WOOL SALES GLOSE
CROSSBRED MARKET IRREGULAR,
Messrs. Murray, Roberts, and Co. are to-day in receipt of a cable from Messrs. Sanderson, Murray, and Elder, Ltd., dated 28tli June, reading as follows: — "Sales have closed. Compared with present London sales' opening rates, merino medium to good, par to 5 per cent, ad; vanoe; merino, other descriptions, market shows no change; lambs, merino, declined sto 10 per cent.; crossbred, market very 'irregular; crossbred, greasy, fine, of good breed and style', advanced 5 per oent.; crossbred, greasy, fine top making, declined 5 per cent; crossbred, greasy medium and greasy coarse, of good lustre and breed, par to 5 per cent, decline; top making, 5 to 10 per cent, decline; medium descriptions show the greatest decline; crossbred lambs, greasy, market shows no change." The Bank of New Zealand, Produce Department, has to-day received the following advice from its London office, under date 28th June: —"The sales have closed weak, owing to falling off in competition. The market is affected by the large supplies, and is irregular. Current quotations are as follow:—Crossbreds, coarse, 6d to 6srd; crossbreds, medium, 7£d to 8d; crossbreds; fine, lid to 12d; halfbreds, 17d to lOd; merinos, super, 20d to 2ii ; merinos, inferior, 15d to 17d."
Messrs. Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London agents, dated 28th June : —"Wool sales have closed at a decline on opening rates. As compared with the closing rates of.tho May series, best merinos are unchanged. Fine crossbreds, 46's and 48's, are Id per pound, medium erossbreds, 4t's and 46's, l£d, and coarse crossbreds, 40's to 44's, Id, all per pound lower. Short slipes, unchanged. Combing slipes, Id per pound lower. For slipe wool prices are irregular." The New Zealand Loan andi Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cablegram from ite London house under date 28th June :—
"Wool Sales.—The sales cloeedl firmly to-day. As compared' with last sales' closing rates, prices are lower by about 5 per cent.^ for medium and! ■ inferior greasq merino, merino lambs, and inferior scoured, merino; lower by about par to 5 pei cent, for medium scoured merino; lower by about 5 per c«nt. to 7£ psr cent, for crossbred' slipe; lower by about 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, medium, and coarse greasy crossbred; tower by about 10 per cent for fine, greasy crossbred and scoured' crossbred. There ia no change in the market for superi-fino merino alnct .greasy crossbred lambs. Average current don value of the undernote'd descriptions of New Zealand gi'easj wool:— Good merino, 22ct; medium merino, Wfz&; inferior merino, 15d!; fine crossbred, 16idi; medium crossbred, Bjd; coarse crossbred, 6Jd'; coarse . crossbred,. (36's), 6£d. '
