NEW LAND DISTRICT

EAST COAST DEVELOPMENT.

The Government has decided to create immediately a new land district, to be called the Gisborne Land District. Of late years there has been a steady development of the East Coast, and land settlement has progressed to such an extent that it has been found advisable to create the new district and thereby relieve the pressure on the Auckland and Hawkea Bay Land Boards. The Auckland land district has of Jate years been very much curtailed; first by the creation of the North Auckland Land District, including Auckland City, and now by the loss of a largo area surrounding Gisborne.
