At S a.m. to-day the following forecast was Issued for the subsequent 24 hours:— • Winds—South-easterly, strong to gale, northward of Hokitika and lyttelton; southerly prevailing elsewhere.
Barometer—Eise. Seas—Heavy northward of Eaikoura and in Cook Strait; rough elsewhere. Tides—High on all the eastern coast; poor in1 Cook Strait; moderate elsewhere.
Warning signals for south-easterly gales are exhibited at Capo Maria Van IMemen. Tiritiri (East Cape interrupted), Castlepoint, Cape Campbell, Stephen Island, Farewell Spit, and Cape Foulwind.
