FRUITGROWERS' CONFERENCE
The annual conference ov the New Zealand Fruitgrowers' Asociation was continued in the Farmers' Institute yesterday. The Hawkes Bay. delegates moved : "That the recent regulations allowing black-spot fruit to go on the trial market be rescinded, and a clean fruit standard be instituted." This remit, together with others dealing with the jocal markets, were referred to a special committee, which will deal with local market problems. It was decided to ask the Government to continue to collect the orchard tax on the same terms and- conditions as formerly. It was mentioned that the Government had threatened a substantial increase in the charges. Auckland delegates moved in the direction of advocating an import di-ty of 2d per lb on tomatoes and tomato pulp, iney received the support of the conference.
The directors were asked to favourably consider the holding of a National Apple bhow in Wellington next year.
