MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., presided ov« to-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court. On a. charge of drunkenness, Bartholomew Maloney, a second offender, was fined 10s, in default forty-eight hours' imprisonment. Richard M'Kay, charged with being an idle and disorderly person, having insufficient means of support, was convicted, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon. John O'Brien, alias Cotter, and Daniel Joseph Madden Lane, alias Madden, were jointly charged with stealing a sum of £28 from Daniel Walsh on tlio Ist inst. The men were remanded until Wednesday next. A youth.named Arthur Dudley Stevenson, who had stolen a bicycle, valued at £5. the property of George Bean, was admitted to twelve months' probation. In the case of Alonzo Albert Hewisan> alias Hart,, who had failed to comply with the terms of his relpase "on probation, havin~ committed theft of a, returned soldier's badge, vdued at 10s, the property of Harold Gibbe, was remanded to appear at Masterton tomorrow. There was no appearance of TbomM Raymond Halo to answer charges of drunkenness and dani.Tge to a tin, to th* .extent.of 12s 6d, the property of th<» New Zealand Government, The man's bail amounted to £1 10s, and fines'wiU» repayment for the damage done were, impied up to that amount.
