PRIME MINISTER'S APPRECIA-

TION.

AUCKLAND, This Day. Mr. W. F. Massey, in an interview, expressed great appreciation of the rescue work at the wreck of the Wiltshire. "Whilst we all regret the loss of a fine steamer," he said, "I desird to express, on behalf of the Government, my very warm appreciation of the splendid efforts of all who were. engaged in the gallant work of rescuing the ship's company under most difficult and dangerous conditions. The serious work' connected with the rescue was just what we might have expected from British sailors'and the hardy settlers of the island." ,
