MARKING OF GROUNDS.
• Although the new rule came into force last Saturday, many referees had to .put up with the inconvenience of imaginary twenty-five yard lines. Grounds at Miramar and Lyall Bay were not properly marked. In one case at Lyall Bay a, referee stepped out the distances along the touch line, and requisitioned a pair of boots and an overcoat for use as "twenty-five yard", marks. If the Tule is to operate successfully all grounds must be plainly marked. There were too many lines on the Athletic Park last Saturday, and as a result playere were at times misled, a line/ in the field of play being mistaken for the touch line. That, however, wus duo to the last minute decision—a wise one—to play the game on Ko. 2 ground instead of north and South. '
