i Bleak conditions prevailed at Karori | Park on Saturday afternoon and it w*s doubtful right up till three o'clock whether a start would be. made or not. However, it was decided to carry on with the games as usual and players took the field in the face of a cold squall, the rain beating pitilessly across the field. . The games produced one surprise—the eaay defeat of the Welling-ton-United team by Petone7 which up to last - Saturday had " not secured a championship point.
