OYSTER SEASON

GOOD REPORTS FROM AUCKLAND,

"Reports'of the Fisheries Department," stated the Hon. G. J. Anderson, Minister' of Marine, to-day, "are to the effect that the. supply of oysters this year from the' beds about Auckland and as far as Whangarei and the Bay of Islands, is likely to be more plentiful than in previous years. The Department, under Mr. Ayson, has justified itself in the work that it has done in the p'rote'etion and management of the beds. Each year the Department by artificial sowing, is putting down fresh beds, and they are proving a great success." The Auckland oyster season opens on Ist June.
