The Earl of Liverpool, late Governo'rjSeneral of New Zealand, ha 6 been appointed a Deputy lieutenant of the County of Lincoln (states The Post's London correspondent). , The sudden death of Mr. David M'Namara at Christchurch laat week came as a great shock to his many friends and, relatives. Although, 79 years of age, he had been enjoying good health. He was a. native of Belfast, and came jto New Zealand when 17 years of age. For practically, half a century he was farmingl in' North Canterbury, retiring in 1910. From that time he resided in Chrtetchurch. The deceased leaves a widow and a iamily of four sons—Messrs. B. M'Namara, (Christchurch), W. M'Namara (Railway Department, Christchurch), D. M'Namara (Methven), and Sub-Inspector J. M'Namara (Police Force, Wellington)—and four daughters, - Mesdames Olark (Christchurch), Dwan (Amberley), Wilson (Blenheim),:.and A. M'MiUan (Wellington). ' . , •

The Rev. R. M. Ryburn (Christchurch) and Mrs. Ryburn, are remaining in London until after the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of , England (writes The Post's London correspondent >under date of sth April). They will journey through to Scotland, via OxfOTd •and Manchester, in time to arrive for the session of the Scottish Assemblies. While in London Mr. Ryburn is taking the opportunity of gleaning information regarding religious education, boya' clubs, and: cognate subjects. Then? son, Mr. H. J.
