ASSESSING DAMAGES
/ Mr. Justice Salmond and a jury of twelve, of which. Mr. W. Arnold -was foreman, were engaged at the' Supreme Court to-day with the consideration of a claim for £600 made by Sidney George Nathan, for which Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared, against A. Ha-trick and Co., represented by Mr. D. S. Smith. In his statement of claim plaintiff act out that a lorry, driven by a servant of the defendant company collided violently, with plaintiff's \car as it was standing on the-Hntt-road -on 13th March. The machine was badly knocked about, and in respect of the damage done plaintiff sought to recover £550, the balance of the claim being made up of £40 in respect of'the hire of cars to replace the damaged machine and £10 for valuation fees and reports. • . The defendants did not deny liability, and the question for the jury was merely that of assessing damages. The evidence called, therefore, was largely that of experts. (Proceeding.) . ,
