REPLY TO RUSSIAN PROTEST
(Received May 2, 1.30 p.m.)
LONDON, Ist May.
The Australian Press Association's Genoa representative states that the Italian delegation has replied to M. Tchitcherin's "letter, stating that the meetings which are taking , place have had the object of defining certain points for the benefit of the Russians, and it therefore could not recognise any adequate grounds for the Russian protest.
LM. Tchitcherin wrote to Signor Facta, Premier of Italy, asking the reason for the delay in summoning the First Commission, and declaring that if it is not convened, and if no reply is received to the Russian letter of the 20th inst. to Mr. Lloyd George, accepting the conditions, he will be compelled to withdraw the offer.]
