YOUNG CITIZENS' LEAGUE
ENTERING ON A FORWARD
MOVEMENT.
A meeting of the Advisory Council of the Young Citizens' League was held at Banks ■ College, those present being Messrs. J. P. Firth (president), G. Mitchell, M.P. (vice-president), H. Amos (hon. treasurer), A. C. Blake, W. Ferguson, H. D. Grocott, D. M'Laren, Dr. Wilkins, Mrs. Forde, and Miss Mailland.
Mr. Amos announced that sufficient financial support had been obtained to warrant the league entering upon a forward movement. It was, therefore, decided to address a circular letter to all educational institutions in tho city, setting forth the objects of the league and soliciting the sympathy of those who are entrusted with tho care and training of young people, tho circular to be followed up at a later date by a visit of the organising secretary of the league. A deputation was lappointcd to wait upon the Education Board at its next meeting, to request the right of entrance into the public schools in the prosecution of the aims of the league, and for the purpose of distributing copies of the Young Citizen, the organ of the league. A committee was set; up to prepare and submit to'the next meeting of the Advisory Council a schedule of active work to be undertaken during the current year.
Mr. R. W. Porter, late chief postmaster, Invercargill, was appointed organising secretary.
