CONFERENCE CONCLUDED,

CHRISTCHURCH, 7th April,

At the Oddfellows' Conference it was resolved: ' 'That a uniform rate of sick pay be adopted, namely 20s per week for the first twelve months, and 10s- per week for the remainder of sickness; members on a lower scale of benefits than the above may'"elect to subscribe for higher benefits upon the payment of such contribution as the actuary may determine." The conference entered a very emphatic (protest against the action of the Education Department in withholding portion of the salary of two school teachers attending the conference, and maintained that these jteacher.s, while rendering an' important national service in endeavouring to promote the thrift movenient in this country, should not be penalised.
