BANK OF NEW ZEALAND
NEVV CHAIRMAN ELECTED
At a meeting of the board of 'directors of the Bank of New Zealand to-day, Mr. Georgo Elliot was elected chairman in succession to Mr. Harold Beauchamp, who did not seek re-election.
The new chairman has for many years been prominent in business in Auckland. He was chairman oE the Auckland Exhibition in 1913, and the success of the exhibition was largely attributed to his business experience and organising ability. He was chairman of the Trade Commission which visited the Pacific Islands, at the time of the Parliamentary tour in 1920 to' investigate the possibilities of trade between the islands and New Zealand. In 1920, also, Mr. Elliot was chairman of one of tho special tribunals set up to examine conditions and wages in the Railway service. Ho was appointed a director of tho bank in succession to the late Mr. D. J. Nathan on 31st March, 1920.
