MEETING OF AREA ASSOCIATION

A well-attended meeting of the Cour-tenay-placo Area Association was held this morning in the Paramount Theatre. Mr. W. Stuart Wilson presided. Tho Chairman outlined the aims and objects of the association, and made.several suggest'oll3 as to where improvements could be carried out in the district. The "dust nuisance," he considered, should be attended to. : He also urged that a fair proportion of rate money should be devoted to the betterment of the are*. The question of amalgamation between the two Chambers of Commerce, •he thought, ought to be considered, and, if the proposal were 'carried out, there would be one l'epresentative body functioning for the community's needs. „ The constitution and rales of the association were adopted. The following officers 1 were elected:—President, Mr. F. Townsend; -Vice-presidents, Messrs. Stuart Wilson, B. Smith, E. M. Press, and Good-' win; committee, Messrs. N: Aitken, W. J. Cody. J. W. Martin, F. Laws, A. E. Preston, R. Philp.J. M. Samson, A. Williams, and A. Ratnsay; treasurer, Mr. W; ,T. Cody; organising Mr. W. R. Thompson.
