POSITION OF A.BANKRUPT.

1 "Hie adjourned meeting of creditors of D. G. Wilson, commission agent, was resumed before the Official Assignee (Mr. S. Tansley) this.morning. Bankrupt wm lepresented by Mr. A. B. Sievwnght. ' ] It was stated by bankrupt that, his; travelling expenses were very high, but that often a speculative trip would not result m any business being done. Mr. Sievwright said-that aoi-offer had been made to a certark firm,to pay oil a deft of £120 by a deposit of £20ana instalments of £5 per montli. Had. that offer been accepted bankrupt would have been able to pull through and meet his liabilities. The action of the firm, in refusing the offer had destroyed the man's credit and'forced the bankruptcy. "The Assignee said it seemed to him that the offer was a very fair on*. In reply to the Assignee, bankrupt said he was not now in. a. position to make any offer to his creditors. .: One creditor remarked that it was dne to the offer mentioned above having y been refused thatothei creditors were in the position they found themselves in. He knew that the bankrupt would have been able to effect a transaction which would have brought in £87. but the deal did not come off because of the publicity given to the proceedings. The Assignee remarked that the case seemed to him to 'be one of hard luck. There being no quorum present, the meeting was adjourned sine die.
