ANNUAL MEETINGS
.WELLINGTON CLUB,
The Wellington llugby Football Club held its annual meeting in the V.M.C.A, Rooms last week. Mr. G. 0. Fache presided over an attendance of fifty members. Those present included! Messrs.. A. D. Eayfield, B. Smith, G; H. Dixon, Dr. P. W. M'Evedy, and Captain T. M. Wilkes. Attention was .drawn in the annual report to the high standard of play iri the third and fourth-class teams, which were a credit to the club. The long succession of wins/which the fourth-class team gained in the latter part of the season should be an object lesson to other players-of the value of training. The club had entered four teams last season—senior, junior, third,'and fourthclass. The senior team had been comprised almost entirely of young players, Mid as most of.them were still in Wellington, the team should give a better account of itself this season." Lack of training had been noticeable in the junior team. The third grade team had the distinction of being amongst the six leading teams for the final round of the championship. . The / fourth-grade team did "well. . Numerous members of the club had been selected to represent Wellington. The following were to be congratulated upon attaining that honour: Senior A team, W. Francis; senior B team, Perry, Haines, and Tull; junior, L. Frater; third-class, Herd, Carter, and Chatwin. The club recorded its thanks to those who had given donations to the funds, and had assisted in defraying the cost of functions held during the season, also to the following: Dr. P. M'Evedy, Messrs.- Dwyer, Hunt, Weir, and Wilkes. Taking the club as ■a whole" it was stronger than in 1920; but if tt were to rise to the high place which it had held before the war, members would have to take their football more seriously than hitherto and train regularly .and systematically. A strong attempt should also be made to enter ar fifth-class team in the championship this year: The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £10 5s Id.. The adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet was moved by the chairman, who stated that * although the senior team had received the "wooden spoon," they \Vere just as keen at the end of the. season as at the beginning. It was a poor soul who did not like to /■win, but they played for the sake of the game and had played their best. The record of the lower-grade teams was very satisfactory. The coming season promised to be a successful one, and the revival, which Happened after the war, seemed to bo continuing. Captain T. Wilkes seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. T. R. Konaldson; vice-presirlentsl, Messrs. W. E. Ahearn, G. C. Fache; J..P. Firth, N. Galbraith, C. I. Irons, W. P. Irons, G.
